Psalm 122:1-7

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:

Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel,

to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.

For there are set thrones of judgment, the thronoes of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

When David penned this Psalm, Jerusalem was not troubled with military concerns, but rather in keeping close to God. Shalom with God was good.

Jerusalem today remains special to God, but there is no Shalom. However, in a future day, God will bless all the earth from Jerusalem. If one goes to Jerusalem today he will not find peace. He will find a divided city in need of God's Shalom. There is tension and all sorts of problems in Jerusalem and Israel today. This is one reason we should pray for Jerusalem. When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we are praying for Messiah's second advent, "Even so come, Lord Jesus" (Revelation 20).

Isaiah gives good reason for praying for Jerusalem, "I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth" (Isaiah 62:6-7). This, also, is an "Even so, come"

Christian believers should seek and pray for God's purposes for Israel. Believers should pray for the peace of Jerusalem with a proper understanding of the purposes of God's Kingdom. Christian believers should stand for Israel!

The warfare over Jerusalem is not about Arab vs. Jew vs. Christian. God is in the process of fulfilling his intentions for Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be at peace when she fulfills her purpose, when she becomes what God intends for her. The way to pray for the peace of Jerusalem is to pray for His purposes to be fulfilled.

-Jerusalem is intended to be the city in which is the "House of the Lord", the rebuilt Temple.

-Jerusalem is to be a place of prayer, worship, and to give thanks for the "tribes of the Lord".

-Jerusalem is to be the "Testimony of Israel". The "Testimony of Israel"  is that God is true to His Word and His own nature. That which He speaks, He will accomplish. Spiritual and Physical restoration are necessary for the Testimony of Israel.Pray for the continued restoration of the Jewish people to their own land and the continued restoration of the Jewish people to God through Yeshua.

-Jerusalem's purpose is that the government be righteous, reflecting the heart of the Messiah. Pray for the government that they would have the wisdom and mind of the Messiah in all they do and say.

-Pray for the prosperity of Israel.

-Pray for the people of Israel to receive Salvation.

-Jerusalem's peace is dependent upon the fullness of Jewish revival and worldwide revival. Romans 11:15 "(For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but [revival]?" Pray that all of God's purposes, as spoken in His Word will be fulfilled.
